Mounting in Windows

You can access this file server directly from Windows Explorer, although it may be slow due to poor WebDAV support in Windows.

To do so, simply type \\content.legacyupdate.net\content in the Address Bar of a Windows Explorer window, or the Run dialog box. You can also map a network drive to this address.

What’s on this server

We plan to add more archives of deleted content to this server over time.

• definitionupdates.microsoft.com: Final versions of Windows Defender and Microsoft Security Essentials definitions for end of life Windows versions. See Common Issues for more information.
• download.gfwl.xboxlive.com, download.xbox.com: Archive of Games for Windows Live redistributables.
• legacyupdate: Legacy Update releases.
• support.microsoft.com: Archive of deleted downloads from the Microsoft Support website.
• usefultools: Various tools that are difficult to download, whether because the original source was deleted, or because the original server is inaccessible from end of life Windows versions.
• uxstyle.com: Archive of the UxStyle website and its downloads.
